IOC officials approve of the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park

(BEIJING, August 19) -- On Sunday afternoon, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission Chairman Hein Verbruggen and IOC Olympic Games Executive Director Gilbert Felli, headed an inspection team to tour the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park. From August 16-19, the venue held the Good Luck Beijing 2007 Canoe/Kayak Slalom Open.

The inspection team arrived at the venue at 3 p.m., and its members had a favorable impression of the Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park's attractive natural surroundings, the sight of hard-working athletes at practice, and the warm smiles of the friendly volunteers.

The inspection team also had some time to enjoy the men's canoe/kayak slalom semifinal doubles competition and cheered the teams on during the competition.

After the inspection tour, the team had a meeting with the Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park management group and representatives from the International Canoe Federation (ICF) and International Rowing Federation (FISA).

Prior to touring the Rowing-Canoeing Park, the inspection team toured the Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball Ground. According to the Beach Volleyball event management group, the inspection team gave its approval for the organizational work behind the 2007 FIVB Beach Volleyball Women's Challenger.
