Beijing, 1 June - Comments after the men's marathon 1Okm qualification.

Petar Stoychev (BUL) - Gold medalist

On the competition:
"The wind did influence the competition, but there is wind for everyone. The wind made me swim slower."

On the venue:
"The venue is good and the water is clean, so I can see the line clearly. It helps me to keep the direction."

On the feeding:
"I only ate once. It is a competition, I shouldn't always eat. Once is enough for me."

On strategy:
"It was really not a strategy. As others were very fast, I got no chance to get the lead. In the last lap, I swam faster, and I made it."

On the fights under water:
"This is a fair game. And push and touch was not on purpose."

On the secret techniques:
"We fight for the Olympic qualification, and we worked very hard in the last two years. I think there is no secret, just to be very well prepared and control yourself."

On the venue:
"We took part in the World Championships in Spain, but there is nothing to compare with this venue. Here water is clear, which made me see the direction well. This competition is a high-level and well-organized one with very good volunteers.I'm sure the Olympics will be excellent. Thanks to BOCOG for porviding us such excellent facilities."

Csaba Gercsak (HUN) - Silver medalist

On the follow-up strategy:

"It's just my strategy. In the first lap, I was the 15th, and then I swam faster and faster. In the final lap, I got the second position."

On strong wind:
"In the anti-wind direction, that's hard for us because the wave is big and I have to swim harder. Although the favourabie wind do help me when crossing the finishing line. I love today's weather. I love the sunshine."

Rostislav Vitek (CZE) - Bronze medalist

On strategy:
"It's my strategy to catch up in the last 500 metres. The swim is not so fast, and it's easy for me."

On strong wind:
"The wind is strong, but it's much better to swim in the waves than in flat water for me, and I like to swim in the sea."

Chad Ho (RSA) - Fourth place

On the result:

"I am very happy with it. My aim was to get Me qualification and I succeeded.

On the race pace:
"The race pace is good. I managed to keep up with it and managed to get the qualification."

On the strategy:
"Strategy? Well, I just tried to stay at the top and I did. I am very satisfied with it."
