(Beijing June 1) "The wind changed its direction before the end point and it helped me to win," said Hungarian Csaba Gerscak, silver medalist of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Marathon Swimming Olympic Men's Qualification.

Gerscak clocked 1:59:17.7 in the race, earning a ticket to the 2008 Olympic tournament.

Speaking of the strong wind, the Hungarian swimmer said, "I was against the wind first and had to reserve my strength, so I placed only 15th after the first lap."

"I did my best to catch up with the other and fortunately the wind changed its direction before the end point. It was much favorable for my spurt and finally I got the second place," he disclosed.

The gold and bronze of the event went to world No.18 Petar Stoychev of Bulgaria and Czech Rostislav Vitek respectively.
